Magento Websites by Go Web

When it comes to selling online, we build a lot of eCommerce websites using Magento. We are a leading Yorkshire based developer, with years of experience in all versions of the Magento eCommerce website platform, which has recently been acquired by Adobe.

Magento is used by some of the world’s largest online retailers to power their online sales. These include The North Face, Ford, Harvey Nichols, Landrover and many more.

Unlike more rigid, basic eCommerce platforms such as Opencart and Shopify, this is an extremely flexible, large-scale platform. Just like WordPress, it is open-source, and the community edition is free to download.

Go Web Design & Development are experts in both Magento 1 & 2 versions, so rest assured we have all the skills and knowledge required when it comes to working with this eCommerce platform.

What is Magento?

Magento is one of the world’s largest eCommerce platforms. In our opinion, it is by far the best due to its flexibility, scalability and modular approach.

It offers a CMS (Content Management System) comprising of a PHP framework. The framework utilises HTML, CSS and Javascript, along with an SQL database, to power this incredibly flexible eCommerce web platform.

Just like with WordPress, there are two ways of utilising this platform…

  1. Enterprise Edition, which is a paid, hosted solution with full support and other options. This option is often used by larger companies but can be out of the budget of smaller organisations.
  2. Community Edition, which is a free, open-source version of Magento that can be downloaded for free and installed on any server. A good Web Developer can then build on top of the basic system to provide you with a customised eCommerce solution for your business.

Magento 1 or 2?

Unlike WordPress, the two major versions of Magento are very different.

Version 1 was the original and still powers thousands of websites to this day. However, due to the release of Version 2 in November 2015, support for the system has inevitably moved towards the newer version.

Go Web are proficient in both versions of Magento and have a portfolio of websites built in either version. For more information, please contact us.
