Lockdown (1, 2 and 3) has been a tough time for everyone. During quieter times, I have used my spare time to help my local community.

Local Community Facebook Group

I recently took over as the Facebook admin of a local community group called BRAG (Birdwell Residents Action Group) which cares for the local area and its people. Things we’ve done include litter picking, fundraisers, Christmas lights for the village and a lot more, such as supporting vulnerable individuals in our area. This has been a huge team effort and is something I’m very proud to be a part of.

Go Web also teamed up with our good friend at The Travellers Inn, Birdwell, to sponsored a Christmas Tree which was planted in one of the local community gardens, near some elderly bungalows. We hope this brought a bit of joy to the residents over the Christmas period and the tree will live on for years to come.

Helping the Local Community – Graveyard Restoration

Another thing I’ve personally helped with is the local cemetery restoration project. There are hundreds of local people laid to rest at Birdwell cemetery, yet the graveyard has been totally neglected for a number of years. A local man has started a project, with a group of volunteers, to clear the graveyard so that local people can go and visit relatives, some of which have been totally hidden for a number of years.

Little Acorns

Finally, we have donated a free website to another local organisation called Little Acorns. The site is still in production but should be launched by the end of January 2021.

Go Web will continue to support our local community wherever we can.
